The Winnipeg Jets face the Buffalo Sabres tonight at MTS Centre. The Steinbach Pistons beat the Dauphin Kings in Game 2 of the MJHL final as 1,450 people crammed into the 800-seat T.G. Smith Centre in Steinbach. Canada’s national women’s hockey team beat Russia 8-1 to reach the final of the World Championship in Ottawa. They’ll play the United States tonight on TSN. And the Peguis Juniors will represent the Keystone Junior B Hockey League at the Keystone Cup Western Canadian Junior B Hockey Championship next week in St. Malo.

The 19-19-2 Winnipeg Jets will return to action tonight at MTS Centre, 7 p.m. against the Buffalo Sabres. It’s the second game of a six-game homestand and it can be seen live on TSN Jets TV. The Jets are now second in the Southeast, two points back of the 20-17-2 Washington Capitals, a team that has one game in hand. The Jets are also 10th in the East with eight games remaining in the schedule.

Phil Kessel had two goals and an assist. The 22-13-4 Leafs are fifth in the East with nine games remaining.

Brad Marchand had two goals and Tuukka Rask made 42 saves to get the win. You can pretty much write off the Hurricanes. They are 1-11-1 in their last 13 games and have fallen into a tie with Tampa for third/fourth in the Southeast, six points back of the Jets. The Canes have also lost five straight.

Cory Schneider made 19 saves to get the shutout. Ryan Kesler scored the eventual winning goal.
Calgary 3 Colorado 1
Joey MacDonald made 40 saves to get the win. The Flames snapped a 13-game road losing streak.
Anaheim 2 Edmonton 1
Veteran Radek Dvorak scored both goals for the Ducks.

Justin Augert had a goal and three assists while Corey Koop made 31 saves to get the win as the Steinbach Pistons beat the Dauphin Kings 4-1 in Steinbach last night to even the best-of-seven Manitoba Junior Hockey League Turnbull Cup championship series at one win apiece. Game 3 goes tomorrow night in Dauphin at 7:30.
MANITOBA MAJOR JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE
Game 2 in the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League’s championship series between the Charleswood Hawks and the Pembina Valley Twisters goes Friday night in Morris. Charleswood leads the series 1-0.
The Peguis Juniors, a team that has won 35 consecutive games, will represent the Keystone Junior B Hockey League at the 30th annual Keystone Cup Western Junior B Hockey Championships, hosted by the St. Malo Junior B Warriors. The tournament goes April 17th to 21st at the Saint Malo Arena and will feature teams from BC , Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Check out keystonecup.ca. for ticket information.
Canada’s national women’s hockey team, the defending world champions, pounded Russia 8-1 last night at the World Women’s Hockey Championship in Ottawa. Team Canada features Jocelyne Larocque and Bailey Bram from tiny Ste. Anne, Man. It’s still just a two-team tournament. Canada will now play the Gold Medal final tonight against the United States, 6:30 p.m. on TSN.
