To Do Good, Some Great Hockey Kids Need Your Vote

They are the kids who love to play the game. They are members of the Winnipeg Fort Garry North 10A1 White Team and they are in a national contest to do some good for our community. They need your vote.

The Winnipeg Fort Garry North 10A1 White Team is a Finalist in the CST (the Canadian Scholarship Trust Plan) “Beyond the Blue Line Contest.” The contest was designed to find teams that have ideas to reduce the costs of playing hockey to parents so their kids can play, all the while supporting future education. The prize is $10,000.

As finalists, their idea caught the imagination of the people at CST. Simply put, it’s an online website, like KIJIJI, where folks can sell their used equipment. All the money raised will go in your kids’ Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP).  Click HERE to view their video on YouTube.

But here’s the best part: The Winnipeg team will use the prize money in three ways:

1.  Develop the idea of GearHoarder.ca to reduce the cost of hockey and help save for future education.

2.  Support Community Hockey and Education by donating $3,000 to the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy Program.

3.  All the remaining funds would be used to assist in tournament fees for their team.

The three finalists in this national contest are Winnipeg, Vancouver and Montreal, so the local kids need your help.

You can vote once everyday.

Just go to http://www.cst.org/en/node/1051?entry_id=488997 and Vote for the Winnipeg entry (vote under the word ‘info’ beside the photo) of GEARHOARDER.  We are competing against Vancouver and Montreal.  Please vote every day.
