Brian Strait played 52 games with the New York Islanders last season, The lefthanded shooting defenseman will now play on the blueline for the Winnipeg Jets.
The Jets third signing on Free Agent Friday is a 28-year-old journeyman rearguard who signed a one-year, one-way unrestricted free agent contract for $600,000.
Strait has played the last four seasons with the Islanders after five seasons in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. Last season the product of Waltham, Mass., and Boston University had a goal and six points for the Isles.
During his NHL career, Strait has six goals and 27 points in 182 games. He was drafted in third round, 65th overall, by the Penguins in the 2006 NHL Draft.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Strait played on the 2009 NCAA championship team at Boston University and helped the United States win a gold medal at the 2006 IIHF World Under-18 Championship.
