Andrew Ladd and Ondrej Pavelec were brilliant as the Winnipeg Jets beat the New Jersey Devils 3-1 at MTS Centre; Winnipegger Jonathan Toews scored two goals as he led the Chicago Blackhawks to a 3-0 shutout over the St. Louis Blues; and Tim Kavanaugh had a goal and an assist to lead the OCN Blizzard past the Waywayseecappo Wolverines 5-3 in Wayway. It was another busy Thursday night in Manitoba hockey.
Let’s start with last night’s games in the National Hockey League…
A goal by Andrew Ladd at the eight second mark of the game, right off the opening face-off, and a second one at 11:59 of the third period after a brilliant rush by Dustin Byfuglien gave the Winnipeg Jets a 2-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils at MTS Centre last night. It was an entertaining game as the Jets got some terrific goaltending from Ondrej Pavelec to give the Jets their third straight win and put a stop to a four-game home losing streak. Evander Kane had his eight-game points streak stopped, but it’s not like he didn’t have any chances.
The 10-9-1 Jets are tied with Carolina atop the Southeast Division, but officially eighth in the Eastern Conference. The red-hot Jets, who have won five of their last six, will play again tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. at MTS Centre on Hockey Night in Canada against the Washington Capitals and then head back out on the road for four more games.
